The Coal Country Festival is an all day event celebrating the love of cycling as youths and adults. There are many activities, food vendors and so much to see and do on Gillette Ave on this day. Live music/Street dance starting at 5pm! Who would miss that?

The packet pickup party is where the fun begins. The night before race day June 28th. 5pm-8pm @Big Lost Meadery downtown Gillette. Here you will grab your swag bags full of goodies from local sponsors along with race day information, maps & your bib numbers. There will be free food until supplies last. This is a local Mead & Brewery. They have the finest mead around & some excellent cold brews that I promise you. Race time starts early so don't have to much fun, we highly recommend being here for packet pickup. It makes things run smoother for race day morning and all questions can be answered at this time.

race day

On race day each distance starts an hour apart 6am-7am-8am. Following the start of the Honeypot 25. The festival opens up to the public and all your family, friends and fans that come with you to our event. Free coffee & doughnuts provided @The Local. One block from the start/finish line from 5am-8am.

While your out there grinding some epic Wild West Gravel rest assured there having a blast too in the heart of the Energy Capital.

bicycle float parade

Our Bicycle Float Parade kicks off at 11am during the festival. This parade is for your little ones 10 & under. It is free to register them. All you have to do is sign them up decorate them & their bikes and they are ready to go. Participants circle around a line of cones a couple times within the street closure area. At the end the top 3 best decorated win a free meal @The Prime Rib Restaurant, Official cycling medals, Buddy Pegs books and lots of other goodies!


festival activities

There is plenty of fun going on while you are out there grinding some epic gravel. Hands on Pottery does face painting & rock painting. Games are set out such as ladder toss, bicycle tire toss, sprocket throw for the kids. Horn hole & Corn hole will be going on inside Big Lost Meadery for the adults. Plenty of food vendors will be out. Snow Cones, The Railyard, Pokeys BBQ, Fiesta Tequila is up the street. There is no shortage of stuff to checkout on Gillette Ave.


coal country awards ceremony

Our awards ceremony kicks off at 6pm. Trophies are given to the top 3 overall of each distance. They are epic plaques with heavy equipment mounted on them sponsored by Caterpillar, Komatsu & Liebherr. These are the main mining equipment we use in the actual mining process in our local area. Top 3 women of each distance receives a flower bouquet from Gillette Floral & lots of other swag from our local sponsors. There are many prizes given to festival participants and to our top finishers that go with the Heavy Bragging rights of finishing The Coal Country Gravel Grinder!
